Peninsula Home Improvements cook up a design class with The Marram Grass

May 16 2018

Peninsula Home Improvements has partnered with award winning restaurant, The Marram Grass to design and build a unique Studio Pod on-site.

The Pod, which will be known as the Peninsula Studio is the first of its type not only on Anglesey but in North Wales and will be used by Liam and Ellis Barrie as a demonstration kitchen, a private dining room and a classroom for tutorial sessions.

Self-taught and highly acclaimed chef Ellis Barrie said;  “In nine years we’ve turned what was a greasy spoon on a caravan park in to a thriving restaurant, and during this time we also branched out into videoing cookery demonstrations which we filmed in our restaurant’s kitchen.  Appearing on BBC TV’s Great British Menu last year took our business, the interest in it and what we’re doing to a completely new level.  We now have over 17,000 regular followers on social media watching our demos, so we knew it was time to put this on a more professional footing with a dedicated space and environment in which we can grow this element of our business.”

Ken Grayson, CEO of Peninsula Home Improvements takes up the story; “Liam and Ellis first approached us just for the design and build of the Studio Pod but from working closely with them we’ve built up this relationship and have now taken it further by officially sponsoring it too.  The Peninsula Studio is a completely bespoke design which will provide a well-insulated roof, with plenty of light via the cutting edge flat roof lights, that the boys can use as a demo kitchen studio and teaching space all the year round.

“In return for our collaboration and sponsorship we will benefit from branding in Ellis’ twice monthly videos promoting seasonal produce and cooking and his indepth cookery lessons. We’ll also have a link to our website from their Youtube videos and references on other social media platforms.”

The Barrie brothers have been working on their development plans for over a year and were awarded planning permission at the end of March.  Liam Barrie, a qualified surveyor concludes;  “We knew what we wanted in the new building and that we wanted to team up with the best and we’ve been fortunate to find that in Peninsula.  They’re quality orientated with the added bonus of being local so it’s a relationship that both companies can build on in the future.

“As well as the new Studio Pod we’re also creating a car park and landscaping the area.  Now that we have planning permission it’s full steam ahead with the construction in order for it to be ready for the Summer.”

We have already had a number of positive comments regarding the quality and the finishing touches of our conservatory and everybody who has seen it has been pleased with the finished result. I have to say that both teams of fitters - those that did the initial groundwork and those who fitted the conservatory, were all polite, courteous and very helpful. We would therefore have no hesitation in recommending Peninsula. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.
